How to make money by kitchen fitting part 2
This article which is part 2 of how to make money by kitchen fitting (see how to make money by kitchen fitting part 1) explains how much you will need to spend before you can start making money this way, and it’s based on practical experience.
The good news is, it isn’t too bad. You probably have most of the basic tools that you will need in your garage or workshop.
The basic power tools that you will need for making money by kitchen fitting
However, there are a couple of power tools that you might not have in your garage and workshop. You might have to consider buying a jigsaw – a powerful, professional jigsaw – not a diy type, and a router.
I’ll explain why you’ll have to buy a jigsaw and router later, and also explain why buying good quality professional power tools like this makes sense.
A less costly tool that you will need to start making money by kitchen fitting
Meanwhile here’s a far less expensive tool that you’ll need.
You’ll need a spirit level that is preferably 3 feet (about 1 metre) long or even longer – maybe six feet (about two metres) long.
Why a good spirit level is essential to make money in kitchen fitting
Here’s why you’ll need it.
When you fix the kitchen units for your customers they will have to be dead level. Not half an inch up at one end and half an inch down at the other end, they will have to be dead level at both ends.
This is probably one of the first things your customers will be looking for when you’ve finished the job – if your kitchen units aren’t dead level it’s a fail!
The only way to avoid that fail is to use a spirit level that you can lay across at least one kitchen unit and preferably that you can lay across several kitchen units.
If you have a regular spirit level, forget about using it to make money by kitchen fitting – buy a 3 foot or 6 foot spirit level instead.
